MALAYSIA’S culinary landscape, often hailed as a “food paradise”, is a vibrant tapestry of Malay, Chinese, Indian, and sub-ethnic traditions. Yet a friend from Australia who went on food tours here recently had such a disappointing experience that she could only say, “I don’t really enjoy eating your national dish,” in reference to nasi lemak.
