Mind-numbing effects of excessive social media use

RECENTLY, I read an article about “brain rot” being named Oxford’s Word of the Year 2024.

Brain rot refers to the negative effects of engaging excessively in purposeless activities, especially scrolling social media, watching trivial TV shows or gaming. These habits might offer quick entertainment, but they rarely challenge the mind or teach us something valuable.
