THE news about the retirement of Low Wee Wern, one of the iron ladies of Malaysian squash, took me by surprise, “Low’s higher aims” (StarSport, The Star, Feb 21). I had expected the former world number 5 to soldier on for a few more years.

The 33-year-old Penang-born athlete was committed to the game and always gave her best.
