I AM writing to express my deep concern about the recent water supply disruption in Penang caused by issues with the underwater pipeline in Sungai Perai. Corrosion seems to a problem judging by the number of times the line has needed to be repaired. And repairs are made more difficult because of low visibility in the water.

Why did the Penang Water Supply Corporation construct a pipeline underwater in the first place?
