Focus on youth unemployment

THE Institute for Strategic Analysis and Policy Research (Insap) has released two studies titled “The Looming Challenge: Youth Unemployment and its Political Implications” by Edwin Oh Chun Kit, and “Youth Underemployment in Malaysia: Factors and its implications on Malaysia’s growth and future” by Jason Leong Han Zhong. Both papers are available on www.insap.org.my.

The first study explores the underlying patterns of the youth unemployment rate, which vary with demographics, and the factors that contribute to it. It also examines the influence of youths, drawing parallels with the Arab Spring uprisings, which were led by students and other young people frustrated by lack of economic opportunities for them.
