WITH reference to “Is tuition necessary?” (The Star, Sept 24; online at tinyurl.com/yntjb9ab): Tuition is needed by some children as it complements and supplements their academic needs – but the tuition sector in this country needs to be regulated to ensure only qualified tutors are allowed to offer their services.

Students might need help coping with the transition from primary to secondary school or to a different medium of instruction.
