HEART disease continues to be the leading cause of death in Malaysia. According to the Department of Statistics Malaysia, 18,515 fatalities were attributed to ischaemic heart disease last year out of a total of 166,507 deaths.
It’s alarming to know that heart disease has maintained its status as the primary cause of deaths in Malaysia for the past two decades, increasing from 11.6% of all medically certified deaths in 2000 to 17% in 2020.
