Healthcare middlemen must be regulated


IN keeping with the objective to enhance private-public partnership in healthcare, the government should treasure and nurture the existing primary care system run by private general practitioners (GPs) nationwide.

Up to 2010, private GPs had catered for 60% of the total outpatient care burden of the nation and were the main factor in reducing queues and waiting times in government facilities.
