Which markets to target?

THE latest figures available at Tourism Malaysia’s website comparing tourist arrivals in 2022 and 2019 are particularly useful as they indicate the true potential of 45 countries.

An overall picture emerges by placing tourists into six groups beginning with the biggest source of tourists: Asean, East Asia, the Indian subcontinent, Europe, North America and Oceania, and a mixed group that includes Saudi Arabia and Russia. The top five spenders were Saudi nationals at RM1,084 a day, Bruneians at RM923, Singaporeans at RM865, Australians at RM718 and China nationals at RM718.
