Relationship between cops and media

OPTIONAL PIC, IF USING, MUST USE CAPTION: Steadfast blue line: PDRM celebrations of 216th Police Day anniversary yesterday in Alor Setar. -- Bernama

I REMEMBER those good old days when the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) organised mass media nights annually to foster good working relationships and rapport between cops and the media. Press conferences (PCs) at HQ Bukit Aman were a regular feature when there were high profile cases to be reported.

Despite the recent call by the Home Minister for Bukit Aman to start re-engaging the press, I don’t see much effort on this front. I understand Bukit Aman is still releasing monologue press statements and I rarely hear about or see PCs at the Bukit Aman level.
