Respect for Malaysian immigration officers


I AM a Portuguese citizen residing in Kuala Lumpur for the past five years after retiring from my job in Portugal’s Immigration Depart-ment.

As an immigration officer for 37 years, I can attest to the fact that there are many circumstances we face that are not known to the public. Most people have no idea of the kind of heavy responsibility we carry in being among the frontline protectors of national security.
