THE war in Ukraine has had many observers proclaiming the death of the battle tank. Independent analysts have so far counted around 1,500 destroyed, abandoned and captured Russian tanks representing every frontline model: T-90, T-80, T-72, T-64, and T-62.
The majority are T-72s, the Russian armed forces’ mainstay tank and vanguard of their Ukraine invasion.
