FLOOD victims and those involved in flood relief efforts in affected areas will need to observe proper hygiene and the SOPs as much as they can, as they can be easily exposed not only to the risk of Covid-19, but other pathogens from the floodwaters.

In situations where it will be difficult to social distance, facemasks should at least be worn and hands sanitised. Cleaning with soap and clean water as soon as possible is also important in preventing any skin diseases or infections. Exposure to contaminated floodwater can cause skin irritation, gastrointestinal issues, cholera, tetanus and in some cases leptospirosis which can be fatal.
