It costs subscribers more to use subsidy

THE Jaringan Prihatin programme is an initiative under Budget 2021 to assist Bantuan Prihatin Rakyat (BPR) recipients through the provision of subsidies for subscriptions to telecommunication services or the purchase of mobile devices.

The original allocation for this programme was RM1.5bil. It was increased to RM3.5bil under the Pemerkasa package, which was announced in March this year. This new total value is based on the RM2bil contribution (the original RM1.5bil and an additional RM500mil) from the government and added benefits worth RM1.5bil from the participating telecommunication service providers.
