Socso sets the record straight

THE Social Security Organisation (Socso) wishes to thank A Contributor from Kuala Lumpur for the comments in the letter, “High time for Socso to be accountable to contributors” (The Star, Feb 25).

Socso strives to provide the best social security coverage to our insured persons who sustain employment injury, invalidity or unemployment through various benefits under our social security schemes. This is reflected in the compensation paid by the organisation in 2019 amounting to RM4.15bil, an increase from the previous year’s RM3.7bil. The high compensation amount stemmed from more than 77,000 claims of employment injury to Socso last year. This includes compensation for permanent and temporary disablement, invalidity, employment assistance, rehabilitation and medical benefit.
