Breakfast for all a move worth rethinking

THE Free Breakfast Programme (PSP) was launched on Jan 20 this year by the Education Ministry. More than 4,000 pupils in primary schools across the nation are benefiting from this programme. It was originally meant for all primary school pupils nationwide but was then narrowed down to those from families living under the national poverty line.

Prime Minister and acting Education Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad felt it was not fair to give breakfast to all, meaning that children from well-to-do families could eat at home.
