THE smoking ban kicked in yesterday, which is long overdue good news for the majority of the non-smoking public. It is imperative, however, that government agencies stand ready to enforce the ban strictly, without fear or favour.
Because there is always that small number of culprits who lack common courtesy and consideration and still light up in eateries and other places where the ban is in force, displaying the same blatant tidak apa (uncaring) attitude that is seen in irresponsible drivers who ignore safety speed limits and basic road safety rules.
