Mavcom could do more to protect travellers

THE article “When it’s been a hard day’s flight” (Sunday Star, Dec 8) was indeed an enlightening read especially for air travellers. We congratulate Mavcom (Malaysian Aviation Commission) chief operating officer Azmir Zain for his elucidation on the protection for travellers and the refunds they can expect if problems like flight delays or cancellations or lost luggage were to happen.

But we would urge Mavcom to go deeper than the basic protections it is guaranteeing. To explain why, let me share my recent experience with a budget airline.
