Authorities must begin regulating e-scooters now

WITH the increasing popularity of e-scooters, the time has come for the government to come up with rules to ensure the safety of pedestrians and of the e-scooter riders themselves.

The main danger comes from the fact that these machines are silent, unlike motorcycles, but travel fast, unlike bicycles. One often feels e-scooters whizzing past quickly, giving one a shock. A pedestrian could be hit if he or she sways a bit or turns unexpectedly.
