I REFER to the recent report quoting Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng directing commercial banks to grant greater loan access to first-time house buyers and SMEs, “Give more access to financing for first-time home-buyers” (https://bit.ly/2L21ZmM, June 19).

I am a retired bank executive who was in the industry for 33 years. First of all, I believe the minister means well in wanting to inject more liquidity into the market to jump-start the economy.
