ON Jan 23, the Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) again pointed out the need to regulate businesses like Airbnb. On Feb 1, Mich Goh, Airbnb head of public policy for South-East Asia, said Airbnb was actively working with the Malaysian government and multiple local stakeholders towards regulations that would ensure respectful and responsible home-sharing in this country. But she did not name any federal ministry, state agency, local authority or stakeholders.
She also said Malaysians see home-sharing as a way to share their famous hospitality with overseas guests while earning extra income.
