Mangroves in Setiu lagoon.SAMUEL ONG / THE STAR, 25TH APRIL 2016.

WORLD Wetlands Day was celebrated on Feb 2 with the theme “Wetlands and Climate Change”. The celebration is intended to raise public awareness of the importance and value of wetlands.

Personally, I believe that efforts should be continued throughout the year to provide adequate understanding of the issues involved in the preservation of wetlands, and the role of the stakeholders and general public to protect and conserve these wetlands at local and national levels.
