We chose change, not cronyism

THE Malaysian Trades Union Congress Penang Division is shocked by Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) vice-president Abdul Rashid Abdul Rahman’s stand that elections must be won “by hook or by crook”, “even if it means granting contracts to division chiefs” (“Bersatu VP: Protect party gains ‘by hook or by crook’, grant tenders to division chiefs” at tinyurl.com/star-contracts).

Pakatan Harapan’s victory in the 14th General Election was a result of the people’s collective desire to oppose the culture of patronage, among other issues, that was embedded during Barisan’s regime. We, the citizens of the country, voted for change, minus cronyism.
