Change to attract foreign talents

ON May 9 this year, we saw something most Malaysians believed would never happen in our country – a change of government. Since then, I have seen many changes made by our new government to make the country more transparent and progressive. However, I have yet to hear anything on changing the immigration laws in our country.

I began to think of this while talking to an Iranian lady who has lived in Malaysia for more than five years. She was doing a PhD on Biotechnology. I was astounded to hear her speak of her love for our country and wondered why she found it difficult to stay in Malaysia with a work visa. Being a highly qualified professional in an innovative industry, it should be easy for her to stay and work in Malaysia. The Pakatan Harapan government should do its best to attract such talented professionals to work here.
