INTERNATIONAL Earth Day on April 22 every year was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 2009. Its aim is to promote living in harmony with nature to achieve a balance among the economic, social and environmental needs of the present and future generations.

The concept of living in harmony with nature was seen by the UN delegates as a way “to improve the ethical basis of the relationship between humankind and our planet.”
