Lauding green efforts in tourism industry

I GOT the goosebumps when I visited the Keriang Hill Resort (Kedah) booth at the MITA (Malaysia Inbound Tourism Association) Travel Fair in Kuala Lumpur recently. Players in the tourism industry such as hotels, resorts, food and beverage outlets and travel agencies showcase their services at this fair.

When I asked for more information on the resort, I expected to be handed a brochure just like at all the other booths I had visited earlier. But when I asked for one, I was told the resort had joined with WWF-Malaysia for nature conservation and was observing green practices. I was stunned yet extremely proud of the resort for embarking on their green efforts. I was also proud of WWF-Malaysia for awakening the spirit of going green in the resorts industry. Among the many booths that used eco-tourism as their attraction, Keriang Hill Resort stood out because of their firm stand in going green by reducing usage of paper and printing.
