No end to issue of discipline in schools


THE issue of discipline in schools came up again recently after two teachers were brought to court. In the wake of these two cases, parents debated the abolition of corporal punishment and the Education Ministry reminded teachers of the SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) for disciplining students.

As an educationist for more than half a century, I too would like to share my thoughts on this controversial topic of school discipline.
