THE recent spike in gang activities in schools is worrisome but the problem itself is not new. It has been there for many years and has spread with the advancement of technology.
I have personally experienced it myself. About 23 years ago, I enrolled in high school. Within just two weeks, a few students approached me, offering “security cover” in exchange for a monthly fee which matched their gang identity number.
