WHY is it that every time there is a festival, there is a sudden surge in the demand for food? It is little different whether it is Hari Raya, Chinese New Year or Deepavali.

The authority would then start monitoring the prices of food and make sure there is no unwarranted price hike as a result of hoarding or other forms of exploitation by retailers.
