Board should classify films, not ban them

I WOULD like to congratulate our Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz for questioning the ban on the film Beauty and The Beast, “Nazri questions wisdom behind film ban” (The Star, March 14). He is right in saying the film should not be banned outright just because one of the characters is a homosexual.

The Film Censorship Board should be more broad-minded when doing their tasks. Frankly, it is high time that the board’s role should just be on classifying films rather than censoring them.
