Zoo’s panda deal needs another look


THE giant pandas are really living it up in Malaysia. Not unlike George Orwell’s classic satire Animal Farm, the giant pandas at Zoo Negara are treated more equal than other animals.

The two giant pandas which arrived in Malaysia from China as a goodwill gesture to boost bilateral ties between the two nations are housed in a 1.6 hectare air-conditioned complex. The special air conditioned enclosure for the pandas at the zoo costs a few million ringgit.
