BASED on what has been going on over the past week, it would be easy to think of ours as a nation on the brink of extremism. It looks as if our politicians are falling over themselves to sell us as a moderate country to Western superpowers but are silently accepting fringe extremism when dealing with homeland issues.

Being a predominantly Muslim country, it means there will never be the separation between religion and state that other democracies champion. And in all honesty, that’s fine as long as the rights of the minority are upheld.
