Danger in the water

I WAS compelled to write this letter after reading the report on the drowning of a teenager off Lido Beach in Johor Baru, “Teen drowns in funeral ritual mishap” (The Star, April 14).

According to the report, the victim had walked 50m from the shoreline carrying the urn containing the ashes of his uncle and lost his balance, fell into the water and was carried out to sea by strong currents.
