Most landslips and mudslips in Malaysia result from waterlogged surfaces on top of slopes that are caused by some form of man-made activity, for example indiscriminate clearing of jungles or tracts of land on top of the slopes. The lack of vegetation on slopes can cause severe soil erosion.
