I REFER to the report “Landslide paralyses Karak Highway” (The Star, Nov 12).
Most landslips and mudslips in Malaysia result from waterlogged surfaces on top of slopes that are caused by some form of man-made activity, for example indiscriminate clearing of jungles or tracts of land on top of the slopes. The lack of vegetation on slopes can cause severe soil erosion.
