ON the way home from the Malacca Run for Peace, my wife, friends and I stopped at our favourite local Malay makan stall.
Upon returning home, I realised that I did not have my wallet.
My wife immediately went back to the stall. The owner had found my wallet on the floor near where I was sitting. It had obviously fallen out of my pocket.
As we are regular customers, he knew whose wallet it was and was holding it for the next time we came in to eat. My wife thanked him and returned home, much to my relief. Everybody knows that the loss of a wallet causes a good deal of trouble and inconvenience.
It is not the loss of money but the loss of credit cards, documents, etc. that are the problem.
This was a clear case of honesty and customer care by the owner. I wholeheartedly thank him.
