Drastic action needed to make our borders more secure

ONCE again the nation is stunned by the ease with which the kidnappers breached the security of the waters off Sandakan and abducted the proprietor and a customer of the Ocean King Seafood Restaurant. This brazen act came at the heels of a similar kidnapping last year in the same waters off the Sabah eastern seaboard.

Such an incident has compromised our confidence in the ability of the ESSCom to undertake proper surveillance and pre-emptive measures to safeguard the east coast of Sabah.
