Need for effective internship programme

I REFER to the report “VC all for early internship” (The Star, April 11). While I wholeheartedly agree with this perspective, my concern is whether the goals of internship are fulfilled at the end of the internship programme, resulting in a win-win situation for the intern and the organisation.

The purpose of employing interns is noble: the soon-to-be-graduating student can gain experience and skills in a field he has an inclination for.
