Pursue understanding and tolerance

MY breakfast on Saturday was extremely interesting and an “eye-opener”. While I was having my appam, a neighbour came up to me to say that she had to “fight” with firecrackers the night before the 8th day celebration of the Chinese New Year (CNY) celebrated mainly by the Hokkien Chinese.

The neighbour also enquired if I had slept well with all that noise from the firecrackers. I told her that my Chinese friends celebrate CNY once a year and I enjoyed the noise as it also gives me a feeling of celebration.
