Practice makes perfect

I REFER to “Employers: Fresh graduates not suitable and are liabilities” (The Star, May 16) and “Be earnest in learning English” (The Star, May 24) and would like to stress that that each of us has a role to play to strengthen the proficiency of the business language which is at stake now.

Having said that, stakeholders too have an important role to play in English proficiency – the Government’s education policies, the role of teachers in schools and the academics in universities. I would like to emphasise on the role of a student to acquire the capability which will be a critical asset throughout his or her lifetime.
