I REFER to the report “Tapping into the rich vein of English” (The Star Dec 23) and couldn’t agree more with the Deputy Education Minister Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong that classroom learning is not enough to practise English.

If he, as a young boy, was willing to take every opportunity, even to the extent of hunting for tourists to practise his spoken English, then what’s stopping us now?
