WHEN everyone had expected a live telecast of parliamentary proceedings on Wednesday, what materialised instead resembled a juvenile free-for-all. Several parliamentarians, among them novice representatives, unashamedly exposed their inadequacies and seemed anything but shy about their effusive indiscretions.

However, novice Information Minister Datuk Ahmad Shabery Cheek appeared shy and squeamish enough to want to scrap live telecasts altogether. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi reportedly chimed in with similar pique, although many other ministers and parliamentarians want live telecasts to continue.
