THE first public service “challenge” for newly-elected Member of Parliament Tian Chua came from a constituent whose neighbour’s pet cats’ droppings were giving her a headache. She could no longer put up with the stench and wanted the Batu MP to act immediately to end her misery.

Another Opposition MP said he was asked by the father of a bright student to buy a desktop computer, which was something new to the non-governmental organisation activist.
