I REFER to “Why can’t Malaysian mothers register birth of child overseas?” (Sunday Star, Sept 30) and “2 bumi children, 1 foreign child” (The Star, Oct 1).
The Registration Department (JPN) would like to clarify that everyone born outside the country on or after Malaysia Day (Sept 16, 1963) is a citizen of the country under the law if at the time of birth, his/her father is a Malaysian citizen.
