JAKARTA: Suharto repeatedly won condemnation from media organisations around the world for muzzling journalists during much of his time as president. More than nine years after he was forced to step down, the ailing and ageing former president is still taunting the media.

The Supreme Court has awarded Suharto a hefty 1 trillion rupiah (RM371mil) settlement from Time Asia magazine, which in 1999 published a series of articles about massive corruption scandals involving the former first family.
