Forest sacrificed to build Book Village

DURING my recent trip back to Malacca, I was saddened to see large swathe of land in and around the recreation forest, Ayer Keroh, cleared of its trees.

In its place were erected concrete structures, one of which was called the Book Village. With the rampant felling of trees, not surprisingly the Ayer Keroh Recreation Forest had to be re-named Ayer Keroh Botanical Garden as naturally a garden will have fewer trees than a forest.
