Summit’s global implications larger than imagined

THE recent Fifth Developing Eight (D8) summit in Bali has been underrated and generally misunderstood for at least two reasons.  

First, it is misperceived as a Muslim caucus almost like a steering committee of the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC), which it is not. And second, media emphasis had been placed on Iran, its president and its nuclear controversy almost to the exclusion of more important issues.
