THE decision to use more batik-based material for formal occasions, instead of coat and tie, will give a boost to the industry, which has undergone some difficult times of late.
It is also time for our ministers, senior civil servants and corporate figures to do away with putting on a suit and tie, which is a legacy of the British colonial masters.
