WATER levels in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Kluang have fallen to unusually low levels, with no sign that heavy rains will soon come to replenish supplies. The nearly eight million residents affected have been advised to use water prudently.

The water level in the Sungai Selangor Dam for example, which alone supplies two-thirds of water to Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, has fallen to the 40% mark, just 10% above the critical level.
