Until one gets to walk through it, it is hard to fathom the need to address the problem of overcrowding in prison. On a recent visit to the Sungai Buloh prison, TAN JU-ENG and YIP YOKE TENG found that prison authorities had every reason to appeal for public help in rehabilitating young prisoners. 

THE 40 or so young prisoners were hurried through lunch before being marched into a room to listen to yet another motivational talk.
