WWF-MALAYSIA endorses the Prime Minister’s call to reduce logging throughout the country, “Reduce issuance of logging permits, PM orders states”, (The Star, Jan 14).
We regard timber production as a useful and legitimate activity in designated forests, but only if it is done carefully and if other areas of forest are managed for equally vital functions, such as water catchments, wildlife reserves, and tourism.
